Sustainable public transport for social and economic development

Dr. Dayo Mobereola

Dr. Dayo Mobereola, pioneer Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), is responsible for planning, regulating and franchising transport activities in Lagos, Nigeria.

A PhD holder in Transport Economics from the University of Wales, Dr. Mobereola has over 30 years transport planning and implementation experience, working in the UK, Middle East and Nigeria. He has supervised the development of a 20-year Transport Master Plan for the State and implemented the “Mile 12-CMS” Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, the first in Africa. The BRT corridor is presently being extended by 13km. Dr. Mobereola is currently directing the implementation of a multi-modal integrated Public Transport (PT) system for Lagos and also supervising the construction of a 27-kilometre Blue Line Rail project, the first in Nigeria.
